Eric J Persson
I have been producing artwork on some level for my entire life. I started painting as a student at Kansas State University and this was where I found my true calling as a painter. My painting subjects vary from figurative to abstract to landscape. The thing that remains consistent throughout is my expressionistic brush stroke.
I have found most of my success with my series of female figures and particularly female athletes and women’s foot portraits. Most recently I have worked on a series of Roller Derby girls and just had a chapter of my work published in a nationally released book titled ‘Roller Derby Art: Women, Wheels and Wicked Fun.’ I have become a huge fan of the sport and find it to be a combination of athleticism and art and I strive to capture the unique atmosphere of the derby bouts through my work.
In my women’s foot portraits, I try to use just the feet with or without props as a way to capture the particular person’s mood or essence by just portraying them through their feet and invite the viewer conclude their own story about this person, just the same as any other portrait.
